About Us

oUR sTORY

The Spiritual Intervention Ministry (SIM) is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to helping New Americans overcome the challenges of identity and personal hardship through spiritual solutions. We aim to foster a supportive community for first-generation African refugees, immigrants, and families by addressing major challenges like trauma, cultural shock, and economic difficulties. We do this through holistic interventions that provide practical, spiritual, and culturally sensitive assistance to those who need it the most by addressing substance abuse, homelessness, joblessness, and rehabilitation. We bring the message and healing of Christ and use scripture, prayer, and worship to develop closer relationships with God in order to create a more supportive society.

The story of the Spiritual Intervention Ministry begins in 2019 when Elizabeth Lou witnessed the many displaced African refugees and immigrants struggling with trauma, cultural shocks, and loneliness as they navigated a land and society in which they felt out of place. She did considerable research to find resources but found few organizations that could properly address the myriads of cultural challenges, economic difficulties, and language barriers. These immigrants and refugees, known as New Americans, were being neglected and cast away. Turning to her inner convictions as a Christian, she felt called to address the challenges that the New Americans faced, and the establishment of the SIM in San Diego was her solution. We envision a well-integrated and thriving New American community where mental health sickness will be non-existent.

We are always looking for donations and volunteers who can help carry the light of Christ and support our mission. Please consider lending a helping hand and improve the lives of many.
